Introduction to CUHK
Campus
The Chinese University lies on a spacious 134-hectare campus with more than 130 state-of-the-art buildings. It rises from Tolo Harbour just north of Sha Tin.

Colleges
The University has its origin in three colleges - New Asia College (founded in 1949), Chung Chi College (founded in 1951) and United College (founded in 1956). In 1963, the three colleges were amalgamated to form The Chinese University of Hong Kong and a fourth College - Shaw College, was added in 1986.
Faculties
At present, there are seven faculties: The Faculties of Arts, Business Administration, Education, Engineering, Medicine, Science and Social Science. Fifty-three full-time undergraduate programmes and two part-time degree programmes leading to bachelor's degrees are offered by the sixty-one departments within the seven faculties.
Graduate School
There are a total of fifty-four graduate divisions in CUHK. The University offers ten postgraduate diploma programmes, one hundred and twenty-three master programmes and sixty-one doctoral programmes in the academic year 2002/03.

Postgraduate Hall Complex has around 1,040 places for graduate students in 6 units:
